Strategy and branding for a Pilates instructor building a travel ready movement brand.

Sydney had recently become a certified Pilates instructor and wanted to move into wellness full time. She was drawn to travel, exploration, and the impact movement had made in her own life. What she did not have yet was a defined business that could bring those interests together.
Sydney knew she wanted to teach movement and eventually host international retreats, but the business itself was still undefined. There was no clear audience, offer, structure, or practical first stage. Before creating the visual identity, we needed to determine what Tide and Wave Wellness would actually become.
The project began with standalone strategy sessions. Together, we clarified Sydney’s goals, shaped the audience, developed the offer direction, and created a phased roadmap for growing from online movement into in person teaching and future retreats. Only after that foundation was clear did Sydney move forward with custom branding. The visual identity was built around a business direction she could act on rather than an abstract long term idea.
The first stage was an online movement program that allowed Sydney to begin teaching consistently and building a community without waiting for the retreat side of the business to be ready. Sydney went on to teach online classes three times per week. She also began travelling and teaching in person in different countries, bringing the movement and travel sides of the business together in practice.
Tide and Wave Wellness was designed for a younger, adventurous audience interested in fitness, travel, community, and new experiences. The brand needed to support people who wanted to challenge themselves while still making room for rest and restoration. The experience is fitness focused and community led. It is not built around luxury or passive escape. It brings people together through movement, exploration, and the energy of doing something new.
Sydney created the name Tide and Wave Wellness. The name reflects the rhythm she wanted the experience to hold. Like the tide moving in and out, the brand balances effort with recovery, movement with rest, and adventure with restoration.

The visual identity needed to feel playful, youthful, and adventurous without becoming another generic coastal wellness brand. The sun and wave imagery connected movement, water, energy, travel, and rest within one recognizable system.
Custom typography, illustrations, icons, patterns, and a playful coconut mascot gave Tide and Wave a more specific visual world. The system could move between online classes, in person teaching, community content, travel experiences, and future retreat announcements.

The marketing roadmap gave Sydney a way to introduce the brand through online movement, build consistency, and gradually expand into in person teaching and travel experiences. The identity was designed to support what she could offer immediately while still feeling aligned with the international retreat business she wanted to build.

“I call her my ‘business therapist,’ and I mean it. Her strategy sessions have helped me clarify my goals, brainstorm ways to achieve them, and take action.”
